In Primary school the students have learnt how to keep well and take care of physical health.
Students are new to Southfield. They are ready to now learn about what others do to be healthy, learn about their new peers and adults around them and explore the differences and similarities. They will learn about respecting others and treating everybody equally.
How will what they are learning now prepare them for what they need to learn next?
Students have learnt about respecting others and treating everyone equally. This now enables the students to transfer this knowledge to learn about how to respect the environment in which we all live in and share.

In the first term students have learnt about respecting others and treating everyone equally. This now enables the students to transfer this knowledge to learn about how to respect the environment in which we all live in and share.
How will what they are learning now prepare them for what they need to learn next?
Students have learnt about respect for others and the world around them. They are now ready to further develop their understanding of respecting others and the world around them, by developing manners and socially acceptable behaviour in school and in their local community.

Students are now ready to learn about what contributions they make to different communities: family, school, local, religious. They will learn the positive aspects of being part of a community and the social expectations and rules when in these settings. This leads on to them learning about Rules and the Law in Year 8.

Students have learnt about the different communities and the social expectations and rules when in these settings. This has enabled them to have the knowledge and understanding of rules and how these can be different in different settings.
How will what they are learning now prepare them for what they need to learn next?
Students are ready to learn about rules, boundaries and laws. They are aware that different rules apply in different settings but all rules and the law are in place to protect us and keep us safe. This learning leads onto students learning how to keep themselves safe in a range of situations, knowing the rules and applying these.

Students know that different situations have different rules but they are all in place to keep us safe. They are now learning how to apply the rules to keep themselves safe and who and how to get support in situations that are not comfortable for them. This learning will lead onto the students transferring the knowledge and skills around keeping themselves safe to applying this in online situations.

Students have learnt to recognise the benefits and risks of online communications. They are now ready to learn about what an online identity is and apply their skills and knowledge of online communication to discern whether an online identity is fact/true or fiction/unreal.
How will what they are learning now prepare them for what they need to learn next?
Students will learn about how online personas can be fact/real or fiction/unreal. They will learn about how what is written online can be harmful/hurtful and who to talk to if they are not happy or concerned about what they read or who they encounter on line This will lead on to them learning about what people do for a jobs and how they can make decisions about the job they would like in later life.

Students will know that all online platforms and games have age ratings and that these can be different depending on the producer. They will know that there are risks to playing/watching things with age rating over their chronological age and that these may not be suitable and cause upset and concern. They have already learnt who to go to when this happens so will be able to get the support they need. This will lead to them being ready to learn about how different cultures and faiths have different beliefs and how to make their own informed decisions around moral issues.

Students will learn about the different faiths in Bradford.
